HELP OUR COMMUNITY
One of our main missions is to help our community while we still can. We plan to do this by raising funds to create an emergency cache of food and supplies to benefit not only members of this organization, but also our community at large. Presently there is no community emergency cache of food or supplies stored in the event of a catastrophic incident including a nuclear attack on the cities and military bases near to us, earthquakes, food shortages, civil unrest, major storms, or even war (if the trucks stop delivering to us the shelves in the stores will be empty in a day or two). We need to be better prepared as a community but that first starts with you! We are asking for directed donations to be put expressly to purchase and store large quantities of food, water, and other survival gear that could sustain us until GEMA or FEMA can arrive to help, if they are even able depending on the scale of the disaster. Each person needs a minimum of 1000 calories per day (1200-2000 calories is recommended per adult, but less than 1000 calories a day causes the human body to go into starvation mode), and a gallon of water per person for three days for hydration and sanitation is recommended.
One good thing is a lot of our community members are prepared minded and may be able to stand on their own two feet, and possibly have already made the appropriate preparations for an extended emergency for themselves and their family. However, if a disaster strikes and food and water become scarce people will become desperate, these will be your friends and neighbors. Will you be able to turn them away incase of an emergency? Or, would you like to know that there is an option for their survival as well? What if a nuclear weapon levels Atlanta, Athens, or Chattanooga, and hordes of desperate people come to our community and empty our local store shelves with no care in the world for your family or your fellow community members, what then? We need to do better as a community. We need a capability to prepare for our community members ahead of such an event not after because then it's too late.
