This is FEMA's Recommendation for 72 Hours worth of preparations.
Minimum Emergency Preparedness Kit
- Water - 1 Gallon per person per day for three days for drinking and sanitation
- Food - Three day supply per person per day of non perishable, shelf stable food - The minimum a person needs is 1000 calories per day. Less than that has the same physiological effect as total starvation.
